From Our Spice Rack to Your Pocket
From Singi and Adam:
Growing up in Sri Lanka, my family kitchen was a little like a mini spice bazaar, and the star of the show was always Ceylon cinnamon. We didn’t just toss it into our food and beverages for the heavenly flavor—it was the ultimate secret weapon for health, passed down through generations. But when my husband Adam and I moved to Canada, we were faced a culinary tragedy: the only cinnamon we could find was Cassia—let's just say, it was no match for the real McCoy.
As time went by, the longing for that authentic taste of home grew stronger. It turned out, I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. Even my family doctor became a fan, asking us to smuggle (okay, legally bring) back 5 kg of the “good stuff” on every trip I made back home to Sri Lanka. Yes, my husband and I turned into bona fide cinnamon smugglers—smuggling nothing but the best Ceylon cinnamon. We were on a mission: to share this magical spice from our homeland and make it easily accessible to everyone.
To Noriko who had a story of her own:
A moment that really struck me was seeing my grandma nonchalantly pull out a jar of cinnamon from her (usually quite tiny) purse while we were at a restaurant. The first time I saw her do it, I asked:
"Is that cinnamon?" She simply said, "Yes."
"A whole jar?" I asked. Her response? "What else am I supposed to bring?"
That's when it clicked. If grandma needed her cinnamon fix on the go, didn’t everyone else?
That’s how AASAI was born. We wanted to bring that authentic slice of Sri Lankan spice heaven to everyone—without the hassle of carrying around grandma-style spice jars. Our "to-go" packs and drink sachets are your ticket to adding a splash of flavor and a dash of health to your beverages or meals, wherever life takes you.
So, whether you're a foodie, a health enthusiast, or just someone who likes a bit of spice in your life, AASAI is here to make every sip and bite a little more special.
AASAI means “I love it” and we love that we’re able to bring a piece of Sri Lanka to your pocket, one cinnamon pack at a time.
